Synopsis
The aim of this module is to equip students with the fundamental skills of academic writing using a step-by-step approach, clear relevant models and varied practices. It develops the method of building writing skills to develop well-organised, coherent and logical essays using different styles of organisation. The course aims to enable students to express themselves in academic register, utilising the theories and conventions of writing that include paraphrasing, summarising and referencing. These skills will be used to produce the main types of academic writing students will submit in the course of their study. Reading material and assignments will focus on various health related articles and topics. Students who enrol to this course should be proficient in both oral and written English.

- To plan and write essays in various academic formats
- To use proper referencing skills to write a research article
- To work in groups and communicate ideas effectively
- To adhere to the conventions of academic standards for publication
- To demonstrate greater proficiency in the use of the English Language
